ClearCam Externship 2026
Looking back to when I was a student, I noticed a LOT of gaps between what classes teaches and what industry is. Honestly, it’s frustrating - so I try my best to close that gap.
With the partnership of ClearCam, I led an Externship to show 12 students a quick but important insight on engineers in the medical device industry.
We broke down the assumptions that engineers are seperated by majors (mechanical, electrical, etc), but instead specialized by responsibilities (quality, manufacturing, product development, etc). From there, we gave insights on what type of skills and experiences are desired for these roles and what projects can help demonstrate that.
We ended this 6 hours session with how these engineers contribute to ClearCam ranging from surgeon communications , future products, current in market products, and the quality process. Though it was not a lot of time, I emphasized them that these are key words I wish I knew in undergrad, and it’s their responsibility to make something from it. Based on the questions and note taking I observed, I like to think it was a success.
